First, I went to Google and just searched for Muscle building. That term is to broad and competitive so I used Google Related Search to find long tail keywords.
Another tool that I used is Google´s Wonder Wheel to get even more keywords. (I can play with that things for hours!).
Next thing I did was to grab some of this long tail keywords and see what Google Insight can tell me about them. It´s also a nice way to expand your keyword base. You can see that that some trends are rising (yellow, red and blue) and some are fading (green and purple).
Last but not least I´ll use the free Google keyword tool to check the search volumes.
Ok, now with all this information we can choose a keyword to go after and dominate it.
The winner keyword is... Drumroll please... vince delmonte workout. Why?
1) It´s the name of the product I´m promoting (so I guess it´s a good buying keyword - in other words, people don´t search for that term to have fun, they search it because they want to buy it).
2)It´s a rising trend.
3)It has 1,300 searches a month. (No, it´s not a lot but nobody prohibits you from doing another keyword after dominating this one :)
4)There´re 56,800 competing pages and 584 in exact match. In other words, it won´t be too hard to rank in the top 10 results.
Almost forgot, you want to check if the niche you choosed is comercialy viable. You can do it by using this tool: https://adwords.google.com/select/AdTargetingPreviewTool
It was a very "ilustrative" post, wasn´t it? :)
Tomorrow is the 2.0 day, the day when the real war begins!
You? Remarkable? Ha! I dare you to prove it!
